Four years ago, in late November, we met a tiny warrior pup in a field. She’d been left there to die. Her skin raw from mange, body crawling with ticks, barely able to lift her head.
But her eyes told a different story. A fire... a fight... a little dog who’d already decided she wasn’t done yet.
We wrapped her up, whispered that she was safe now – and Luna did the rest. Day after day she chose to heal. She chose to trust. She chose joy.
And then the universe worked its magic. One of our incredible adopters, Wilma Basson, who’d already given another little rescue of ours, Ruby, a second chance, opened her heart again.
Ruby and Luna clicked instantly. Two rescue sisters who understood each other’s scars – and turned them into strength.
Today Luna is unrecognisable. She’s healthy, happy, silly and so soft to the touch! Luna is living the life she always deserved, side-by-side with her best friend Ruby.
Dogs like Luna remind us why we do this work. Because sometimes the smallest spark can become the brightest comeback.
