My mom and I found Benny and Lulu in our town. They were only seven weeks old, covered in fleas and so skinny. But as soon as I got them in the car, they fell asleep in my arms. It was truly love at first sight.
Benny had a small hole in his heart but luckily it grew shut, but Lulu wasn’t that fortunate. She never developed adult teeth and was born without teeth enamel, so they break easily. She has some bones missing in one front paw, so it’s misshapen and she doesn’t like to step on it, but that doesn’t stop her from running around with her brother. They’re inseparable.
We’re so thankful to StarPet South Africa for gifting us the MuttMix test. Lulu won the January StarPet Most Magnificent Mutt and we’re super proud of her!
We just received the MuttMix DNA results, and we’re shocked, to say the least.
Lulu’s MuttMix Results:
30% German Shepherd Dog
18% Belgian Malinois
16% English Shepherd
13% Kuvasz
12% Cardigan Welsh Corgi
11% Leonberger
We’re so happy to finally know the breeds. People always ask us what type of dog Lulu and her brother are, and usually we’d say: “They’re dogs.” Now we can finally explain what breeds they are.
The results are so true to Lulu... as majestic as the Kuvasz, loyal, protective and intelligent as the English Shepherd and Belgian Malinois. Like the Cardigan Welsh Corgi they form a bond with people they love, and are very suspicious of strangers, like the German Shepherd and English Shepherd. Lulu has a gentle nature, whereas her brother is prone to nipping and circling when strangers are near, just like the Leonberger.
Thank you again so much for this opportunity – I’m truly grateful. Benny and Lulu are a huge part of our family, and everyone who meets them loves them dearly. They didn’t have a great start to life but are thriving now with all this love, and knowing now what breeds they are makes us feel even closer to them.
I’m so sad to hear that MuttMix are closing, but grateful that Lulu got a chance.
