Meet Dobby – Our Miracle Baby

The 9th Day Animal Rescue Centre received a heart-breaking call about a dog that had been severely burned by his owners. Dobby was suffering from a skin condition, and in a tragic act born from ignorance, his owners believed that pouring diesel over his body would cure him.

Instead, it nearly cost him his life.

The diesel reacted with the sun and caused devastating second-degree burn wounds across his entire body. Every last bit of hair was burned away. When we found him, Dobby was frail, skeletal, terrified, and in unbearable pain.

Our 9th Day angels rushed him straight to the vet, unsure if he’d even survive.

What followed was a long and emotional journey of healing.

Weeks turned into months of constant care – gentle cleaning of wounds, specialised antibiotic creams, daily sunscreen to protect his fragile skin, medication, patience, and endless love. There were difficult days, setbacks, and moments where recovery felt uncertain… but Dobby never gave up.

And neither did we.

Slowly, something incredible began to happen.

His skin started healing.

His hair began growing back.

The scared little soul we first met started to shine through.

Today, Dobby is no longer the fragile puppy fighting for survival. He’s transformed into a confident little character with serious attitude – proudly ruling his pen like the king he believes he is.

Dobby’s recovery wouldn’t have been possible without our incredible community. Every donation, every share, every word of support helped save his life. You became part of his healing story.

There’s still some recovery ahead, but Dobby is now thriving – happy, cheeky, and full of life.

And now… he’s ready.

Ready for a forever home.

Ready for soft beds, safe arms, and a family who’ll show him only kindness.

Ready to finally know love – and nothing else.

Dobby is proof that even after cruelty, hope can grow back… just like his fur did.
