Saving Tails. Changing Lives.

Our Story

For as long as I can remember, this has been my dream. I wanted to save animals. I was the kid who “rescued” the neighbour’s dogs, completely convinced they needed my help… even though they were perfectly fine and very much not mine.

Years later, one small rescue brought that childhood dream to life. One dog. One moment. One life saved. And that single act opened a door I could never close again.

“Helping one” became “helping hundreds”, then “helping thousands”.

In January 2020, Howlelujah was formalised; not as a shelter, but as an outreach movement built on compassion, dignity, and education.

What We Do

We work in communities where resources are limited but love is abundant, mainly Wesbank, with ongoing outreach in Montagu, the Koo Valley, Malmesbury, and anywhere a call for help comes from.

Our mission is rooted in long-term, sustainable change to:

• uplift families
• break cycles of suffering
• ensure animals are healthy, safe, and loved.

Our focus areas include:

• Sterilisations
• Vaccinations
• Critical rescues
• Food support
• Community education, especially with children
• Fostering
• Empowering families with knowledge and resources

Today, families in our communities know us. They trust us. Children run to greet us, and dogs recognise our van from a distance, tails helicoptering, bodies vibrating with joy.

That trust is everything.

We believe children taught to love animals become adults who change the world.

We’re small, but we’re moving mountains.

• 3,000+ sterilisations completed
• 100–300 vaccinations each month
• 1–2 tons of food distributed monthly
• Hundreds of Freedom Rides
• Countless lives transformed, healed, and rehomed

We’re now witnessing something we once only dreamed of: healthier animals, proud owners, educated children, and streets where suffering is decreasing.

Our boots-on-the-ground hero. She knows every dog, every family, every story, and the community knows and trusts her deeply.

We don’t have a shelter. We rely on foster homes, because healing happens best in love, not in cages. And with low overheads, every cent raised goes directly back into the work.

We’re also building Howl’s Dog Food, a future revenue stream designed to fund the rescue sustainably.
