The day started with the usual doggie yawn alarm in my ear – uncannily, as it happens five minutes before the clock radio alarm goes off. Sheba, the German Shepherd-Labrador pup, had once again snuck onto the bed as soon as she knew I was asleep. ...read more

Boo for Barking

1st Dec, 2017
My surprisingly happy day just hit a speed bump… in the form of a kindly policeman personally delivering my “First Warning” about my “excessively barking dogs”. Hmmmpffff! ...read more

Just back from a manic walk with the dogs. What made it manic, you ask? We were enjoying a stroll in the park next to the fire station where they have a mini farmyard when, as luck would have it, we spotted a loose chicken. Argggghhh! Talk about a heart-stopping moment – and not because it was such a beautiful bird. ...read more

I’ve always had a “fancy cat” in my life, be it a Siamese, Burmese or Oriental, who was part of my happy mix of “just plain moggies”. But, by the beginning of 2014, all my beloved golden oldie cats had passed on. Bright and early this morning, we took the girls, Sheba and Sammy, for a speed walk around the neighbourhood, which was good for all of us. But maybe it was not so much of a hoot for the little family of Guinea Fowl that were trotting ahead of us. ...read more

Sheba, our Labrador-German Shepherd pup, is an absolute star pupil at puppy school, but then, like me, she will do anything for a treat in James’s hand! Sammy, aka The Monster Maltese, had her first “accompanied walk” lesson with our trainer and me on Tuesday. ...read more

Living with animals certainly keeps one’s day filled with laughter, especially when it comes to our Sheba. She is one of those dogs that are just plain goofy… she is the Jim Carrey (circa the 1990s) of dogs. She does a great goofy look, behaves in a one-kibble-short-of-a-bowl-way, and is always up to something. ...read more
