Best Friends Pet Lodge, near Midrand, Gauteng, was established by Dogtown SA to provide safe, quality accommodation and a doggy daycare while generating much-needed funds for the rescue centre. The lodge has become sought-after accommodation, particularly for those who’ve adopted their dogs from Dogtown SA. So, not only will your dog get the best treatment while you’re away, you’ll be helping to look after other dogs who don’t have a home of their own.
Best care while you’re away
This is a comfortable home away from home for your dog during your holiday or as their doggy daycare on a daily basis. With access to certified trainers and behaviourists from Dogtown SA, and with only twelve luxury cabanas, you know that your dog will be getting the best care during your time away.

Fun and comfort every day
Best Friends Pet Lodge is situated on the Dogtown SA farm, 20 minutes from Midrand, in the beautiful mountains between the Hennops River and Hartbeespoort. This means that there are acres of play areas for the dogs to have awesome off-lead playtimes, ensuring that your dog is well exercised during their stay.
Two dogs from the same family share a cabana with a garden; arrangements can be made if there are three dogs that need to be together. It’s important to note that dogs from different families aren’t lodged or mixed with other dogs during their stay.
The daily needs and activities of the dogs are taken care of by senior caregivers, and there are well-planned enrichment programmes for the dogs provided by internationally qualified staff. Each dog has a Special Activities Card where you can choose daily activities to ensure that they’ll do what they love.
Getting social
If your dog is visiting for doggy daycare and is suitably socialised, playdates with other dogs are arranged (under full supervision from their human caregivers, of course). In addition to these offerings, Best Friends Pet Lodge will also help you with remedial socialisation for your older puppy that may have missed out on puppy school during the lockdown.
Another great service is boarding with training and one-on-one consultations to assist you and your dog to live their best life.
