Adopted as pups, Rocky and Chase were welcomed into a loving family where they thrived, surrounded by affection and care. These handsome brothers were more than just pets; they were cherished members of the family.

However, when they turned four, their lives took an unexpected turn. Due to changing circumstances, their family had to make the heart-wrenching decision to rehome them. Heartbroken, the family entrusted Dogtown South Africa with the task of finding a new home for these bonded brothers.

Adjusting to shelter life

Rocky and Chase, though initially disorientated, quickly adapted to their new environment at Dogtown. Their friendly and playful nature shone through, with wagging tails and big smiles greeting everyone they met. Despite the challenges, they remained resilient and hopeful.

The search for a new home

Finding a home for a bonded pair is no small feat. After weeks and months of networking, the difficult decision was made to seek individual homes for Rocky and Chase. It was a tough call, but the team at Dogtown knew it was the best chance for each brother to find a loving family.

A miraculous turn of events

One day, the Brodie family arrived at Dogtown, looking to adopt. There was an instant connection with Rocky and Chase, and to everyone’s delight, the family decided to adopt both brothers! The team at Dogtown couldn’t contain their joy, celebrating the wonderful news.

A new beginning

With all the paperwork completed, Rocky and Chase packed their bags and embarked on a new adventure. They quickly settled into their new home, where they now enjoy regular walks and the company of a new feline friend. The Brodie family, who adopted them, keep Dogtown updated with photos and stories of the boys’ new life.

Rocky and Chase continue to walk side by side, just as they did at Dogtown, embodying the unbreakable bond they share. The team at Dogtown are immensely grateful to the Brodie family for providing these two handsome boys with a loving forever home.

Nechama Brodie, Rocky and Chase’s new momma, shares...

When our beloved old Staffie passed away last year, a close friend (who’s an animal behaviourist) told me, wisely, that I shouldn’t try to recreate my old dog with a new one. She recommended rather focusing on the attributes that were important to me and to our home: we wanted a dog that loved being with people, that was cat-friendly (very important in this house!), and that was energetic but not frenetic.

We didn’t initially plan on taking on two new canine companions, but it was obvious from the first meeting that Rocky and Chase would be happiest together. We were a family in need of a dog, and they were dogs in need of a family – so it turns out we were a gift to each other.

Both brothers love nothing more than a cuddle and a lap to lie on. Rocky positions himself under the table wherever we’re sitting, in the kitchen or in my office.
