Every rescue animal deserves a second chance – but sometimes the journey to that happy ending isn’t as straightforward as we hope.

Bella’s story is one of heartbreak, resilience and, ultimately, the power of family.

Originally known as Zinnia, Bella was one of three sisters who entered the care of No More Tears Animal Rescue as a young puppy. Like so many rescued animals, she captured hearts quickly and was soon adopted into what was believed to be her forever home.

For nearly eight months, Bella and her sisters lived with their adoptive family. As rescuers, we celebrated what appeared to be a successful adoption, confident that the girls would enjoy a lifetime of love and security. Sadly, that wasn’t to be.

In May 2026, all three sisters were returned to our rescue. The reason given was simple but all too common: they were no longer tiny puppies. They were energetic young dogs who required time, patience, training, and commitment. What had once been seen as adorable puppy behaviour had become more than their family were prepared to manage.

For the rescue team, the return was heart-breaking. For the dogs, it was confusing and frightening. Bella found herself back in a kennel environment, unsure why her world had changed once again. Yet sometimes, hope appears when it’s needed most.

When Bella’s story was shared on social media, someone very special saw it. During the original adoption process, one of Bella’s sisters had been adopted by a loving family and renamed Julzi. Julzi’s owner had followed Bella’s journey from afar and was devastated to learn that she’d been returned. Without hesitation, she and her son decided to open their hearts and home to Bella.

Their decision was about more than simply adopting another dog. It was about giving a deserving animal a second chance and reuniting two sisters whose paths had unexpectedly crossed once again.

Today, Bella is thriving in her new home. Surrounded by love, stability, and understanding, she’s no longer a dog wondering where she belongs. She’s a cherished family member, living alongside her sister and enjoying the security every rescue animal deserves.

Bella’s story serves as an important reminder that adopting a pet is a lifelong commitment. Puppies grow into adolescents, and adolescents grow into adults. They require patience, guidance, and unconditional love throughout every stage of their lives.

Most importantly, Bella’s story reminds us that while some chapters may begin with disappointment, they don’t have to end there. Thanks to one compassionate family, her story became one of hope, reunion, and a truly happy ending.

At No More Tears Animal Rescue, we’re incredibly grateful to Bella’s new family for seeing her worth when she needed it most. Their kindness has given her the forever home she always deserved.

And sometimes that’s what rescue is all about: not giving up, believing in second chances, and discovering that family can be found in the most unexpected ways. Bella’s journey may have taken a detour, but she’s finally home.

Gillian Moffett, Bella’s new owner, shares...

I’ve shared my home with animals for as long as I can remember. As the saying goes, “A house is not a home without a dog” – or in my case, four.

I adore all of my fur babies. Life can get a little chaotic and overwhelming at times, but the love they bring makes it all worthwhile.

When our beloved 14-year-old Labrador, Nala, passed away, I promised myself I wouldn’t get another dog. But life has a funny way of changing our plans, and here we are welcoming two wonderful rescue fur babies into our family. I couldn’t be happier.

Bella is just amazing. She’s settled in so well, and it feels as though she’s always been part of our family. Her gentle nature and loving personality have completely stolen our hearts, and we couldn’t imagine our home without her.
