Network for Animals is an international animal welfare organisation crusading for animals around the world. We’re non-governmental and often work in difficult situations where animals need the most help, saving dogs, cats, horses and donkeys in war zones and natural disasters, and those facing life-threatening starvation, disease, injuries and abuse.

We financially support and provide logistical help for animal shelters, animal welfare initiatives and, importantly, raise public awareness about animal issues.

Supporting animals around the world

In a typical month, this is how many animals we help (as of January 2025):

  • 5,707 sterilisations
  • 14,774 animals fed
  • 13,338 vet care
  • 6,641 parasite treatments
  • 6,441 vaccinations
  • 20,480 specialised care

How we help

Our South African projects

With our head offices and most of our team based in South Africa, we naturally have a big focus on supporting animal welfare projects in the communities in which we live and work.

Here’s a snapshot of our recent work in South Africa:

  • Working with partners on the ground to sterilise and provide crucial vet care for hundreds of dogs and cats in Calvinia.
  • Supporting Fallen Angels in Cape Town with a monthly grant, and currently working to build a new shelter for the hundreds of dogs, cats and other animals in their care after they were evicted from their original premises.
  • Providing food, medical care, vaccinations and sterilisation programmes for street animals in Cape Town’s Westlake suburb through our partner Fur-Get-Me-Knot.
  • Feeding over 1,000 dogs in KZN’s Valley of a Thousand Hills, alongside our partner KZN Valley Dogs.
  • Supporting TEARS Animal Rescue with various projects across the country.
  • Working with Rest Ur Ass to uplift around 250 donkeys in Bela Bela from suffering, through vital food and veterinary care, and the supply of humane harnesses and halters.
  • Providing crucial funding for Mdzananda Animal Clinic, a veterinary clinic offering heavily discounted services for pet owners in Khayelitsha.
  • Launching a “pet taxi” in Vrygrond, Cape Town, to help bring elderly, aggressive or sickly pets to the free monthly animal clinic run by AfriPaw.

Around the world

We’re active in 26 countries across four continents worldwide.

Working with our partners on the ground, we’re saving animals trapped in the Middle East war, rescuing animals from the frontlines in Ukraine, shutting down donkey skin slaughterhouses across East Africa, campaigning against systemic animal abuse in Croatia, Greece, Morocco and Spain, and providing life-saving food and veterinary care for tens of thousands of dogs, cats, horses and donkeys.

We’re also always ready to leap into action when disaster strikes, helping animals during wildfires in Los Angeles and Greece, floods in Kenya, and in the aftermath of earthquakes in Morocco and Turkey.

All our recent campaigns and projects can be found on our website at www.networkforanimals.org.
