Separated by Chaos. Reunited by Love.

At the Sasol Satellite Operation in Ekandustria, two dogs had made a quiet life for themselves. Roxy and Sasol were strays, yes, but they had each other... until one day, two larger male strays arrived. Roxy may have been on heat, and a brutal fight broke out.

Weeks passed with no signs of anyone, and then we received a call regarding an extremely injured dog in the area. Upon arrival, only Roxy was there. She was visibly shaken, and though she had no external wounds, her body told another story – signs pointed to her having recently aborted puppies. We took her in and made sure she was safe, treated, and cared for.

The very next day, the phone rang again. The injured dog had returned.

We rushed out, and that’s when we found Sasol – lying there, broken and battered. His body was covered in open and infected wounds from weeks of festering. We scooped him up and rushed him straight to our clinic for emergency treatment.

For the first day, Sasol barely moved; he lay curled in the corner of his kennel, eyes dull, and what seemed to be emotionally broken.

Then we brought in Roxy.

The moment she walked in, something changed. Sasol immediately stood up. His tail wagged wildly. His face lit up in a way we hadn’t seen. That room was filled with the kind of joy that could only be described as pure magic. That moment was unforgettable - the spark in Sasol’s eyes, the way their tails danced in perfect sync. It was clear that they didn’t just know each other, they needed each other.

And now... they’ve finally gone home TOGETHER, just as we’d hoped. And just as they deserved and needed.

Sagie Moodley has welcomed them and given them a new home with plenty of space to roam, sniff, play, and be the carefree dogs they were always meant to be.

Although it turns out, there’s one spot they love more than any yard - the couch.

Yes, these two former street dogs, who once curled up in corners of concrete, now snuggle together on soft blankets, surrounded by love and safety. Their new family adores them, and watching them settle in as if they’ve always belonged is nothing short of heart-warming.

Every kennel at Wet Nose holds a story, some sad, some brave, all deserving of love. Dogs who’ve been forgotten, abandoned, or overlooked, but who are just as full of heart as Sasol and Roxy.

So please, share this story - not just to celebrate these two, but to remind others of all the animals still waiting for a home.

Candy Anderes, a good friend of Sagie Moodley, shares...

After reading the story of Sasol and Roxy surviving on the streets, and Sasol fighting almost to his death to protect his princess Roxy, an overwhelming feeling of love and a compelling drive to go and fetch these dogs came over me.

I knew that Sagie had lost his beloved Max (a Boerboel) in March and that these furry angels could help fill the paw-sized hole in his heart. He kindly and graciously agreed to give these fur angels their forever family.

Sasol's head dropped when we climbed into the car. It was only when Roxy was brought to the car that he lifted his head again. It was a fairly long journey to Midrand, but as soon as Sasol and Roxy arrived at their new home, their tails started wagging and they could not believe their luck!

They now sleep in one bed (even though they each have their own!) when their family are watching TV and they sleep comfortably on their own couch every night.

Every wag of theirs is filled with gratitude for the love, warmth, shelter and food they now receive every day.

If only every single doggie tale in the world could end like Sasol and Roxy's!
